Ingredients
2 Egg Whites
4 oz Castor Sugar
2 oz Butter
2 oz Plain Flour
Vanilla
Method
Break egg whites into a basin; add the sugar and beat until smooth with a fork. Melt the butter and add with the sifted flour. Flavour with a little vanilla. Spread in oblongs on a greased and floured tin and bake in a fairly hot oven - 400 deg. F. for 6-10 minutes, until a pale biscuit colour.
Allow to stand for a second to two, then remove with a sharp knife and, placing upside down on the table, roll tightly round a wooden skewer or pencil holding them firmly with your hand. Remove skewer at once and cool quickly. Store in an airtight tin.
